Farmer Development and Support
Support and Training for Beginning and Local Farmers Who Use Sustainable Growing Practices
We believe that food is medicine for our bodies, our community, and our planet. In order for this to be possible, we need to support our farmers who grow this incredible food! It’s essential that all our local farmers have access to the resources and support they need to create a business that sustains them, builds healthy soils, and feeds our community.
Whether you’re interested in starting a career in agriculture or you want to support your local farmers, you can get involved and read about our programs below.
Beginning Farmer Training
The Beginning Farmer Training program trains and mentors beginning farmers, helping them start their own farm and reducing the barriers of entry into a career in agriculture, especially for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, women, and veteran farmers. We provide access to land, infrastructure, technical assistance, classroom curriculum, and mentorship. The Beginning Farmer Training program offers many opportunities for you to get the support that is right for you.
Rent Equipment and Tools
We provide local growers with access to necessary equipment without having to take on the burdens associated with ownership. Renting equipment from GoFarm is easy and affordable, and helps local farmers reduce costs and increase return on investment.
We host workshops throughout the year that are geared toward local producers, but open for anyone in our community to attend. Workshops vary in topics, from farming certifications, to grant writing and seed saving, and more! Visit our events page to learn more.
Sell Food to GoFarm
We buy local, sustainably grown food from local farmers to supply for our Local Food Share and Community Food Access programs. We offer a convenient and reliable sales avenue, promote the farmers we work with to our networks, and source to over 800 shareholders and customers per year.
Land Access Project
We work to connect local farmers and landowners in an effort to help local farmers access land. If you are a local farmer looking for land to farm, or are a homeowner interested in leasing your land to an urban farmer please reach out to us. We are also seeking land to establish a training center for the Beginning Farmer Training program.
Support Your Local Farmers
We rely on the support of our community to help us continue supporting and advocating for local farmers. From buying a local food share to volunteering or donating, EVERYONE can be involved in helping local farms thrive.
