Community Food Access
The GoFarm Mobile Market is our “farmers’ market on wheels”, where we travel to different community locations to sell fresh and affordable food from our local farmers. We prioritize neighborhoods where barriers to accessing and affording local food are greatest, and where our partners invite us in to be part of their community.
Why We Launched a Mobile Market
Our Community Food Access program was launched in 2016 and has been growing and evolving ever since. We started with a couple weekly pop-up markets at neighborhood Head Starts and Early Childhood Education Centers selling local food at affordable prices and conducting food education for kiddos.
But over the past few years, we’ve seen a significant increase in the number of community organizations interested in hosting GoFarm markets at their sites, and it started to exceed our capacity. With the time and resources required to set up fresh food pop-up markets, we were very limited in the number of markets we could host each week. With this mobile market, we will have the necessary infrastructure in place to host more markets, travel to new locations that experience barriers in accessing local food, and reach more of our community!
After all, our markets and programs are all about connecting more people to their local food system and making local food as inclusive and accessible as possible. We hope our mobile market programming excites and inspires people to get involved in their local food system, serving as an innovative connector between local producers and local consumers.
We are always excited to work with new partners and allow existing partnerships to evolve based on the needs of the community. We currently work with the Arvada Head Start, City of Lakewood Early Childhood Education, Eaton Senior Communities, Juanita Nolasco Residences.
If you are interested in partnering with us to host a mobile market site, please reach out to us! We would love to learn more about where our mobile market could travel to next.
In addition to selling fresh, local produce at affordable prices, we make sure to have fun with our food! While hosting our markets, we love to play with the kiddos, visit with older adults, and chat with parents, teachers, and neighbors alike. We incorporate fun, educational activities, coloring contests, kitchen giveaways, and more, to build excitement and inclusion into everything we do.
If you are associated with one of our community partner sites (Arvada Head Start, City of Lakewood Early Childhood Education, Eaton Senior Communities, Juanita Nolasco Residences), we invite you to shop with us at our markets throughout the year! We welcome SNAP/EBT, credit card, cash, and offer Double Up Food Bucks and WIC incentives. To find out when we are hosting our market at your location, please reach out to us or contact the partner listed above.
If you are not associated with one of our partners listed above, but are looking for better options to access and afford fresh local produce, please reach out to us! We would be happy to work with you and figure out how we can help. We also invite you to check out our Local Food Share to see if that program might be a good fit for you!
